Syncopation is a contemporary and modern jazz outfit. It is setup as a trio and it’s members are all established musicians – who have years of experience behind them – playing with varying setups and at a spectrum of different gigs, concerts and events. The trio is spearheaded by Rishi Sachdeva, an extremely accomplished guitar player, accompanied by Nikhil Vasudevan on Drums and Sahil Warsi on Double Bass. Syncopation is a blend of talent and experience, as distributed amogst these three versatile musicians who have more than established a foothold for themselves in the music circuit in India.

13/04/2012 THE PAISLEYS & MUD STUFFIN (Americana)
The Paisley’s music is an eclectic mix of folk, blues, swing and bluegrass with driving rhythm and powerful three part harmony. With guitar, banjo, harmonica, bass and percussion, they play their unique versions of songs by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Band, The Eagles, Hank Williams, Gillian Welch, Gram Parsons, The Grateful Dead and many more. The Paisleys will play songs you know as well as songs that will become new friends.

If there’s something vaguely familiar in Mud Stuffin’s name, it’s likely because there’s also something familiar about Mark Mowry and his stable of “Stud Muffins”. Mark is the former front-man for “Big Bang Blues”, the Delhi-based blues/rock sextet that has been making waves throughout NCR and points beyond (Naukuchiatal,Mumbai, Pune). With his wry and off-beat sense of humor, Mark proves himself an on-beat performer and stage personality. Mark usually manages to good-naturedly goad the audience into participation. As Mark puts it, “It’s a whole lot more fun that way.” This isn’t Mark’s first team-up with Kapil, who is also a former member of “Big Bang Blues”. In fact, it was only about a year ago that Mark & Kapil conducted a four-month stint as performers at The Sheraton, Saket. It was at the Sheraton Saket and Big Bang Blues gigs that Mark & Kapil were able to hone their repertoire of American classic blues, ballads, and ragtime. Now Mark & Kapil are joined by Kahle, Mark’s dreadnaught wielding, dreadlock-wearing son. Kahle has consistently and steadfastly followed his own musical star, only to wind up as his dad’s most adept sideman. Kahle began playing his dad’s ragtime and fingerstyle guitar tunes around four years back, and now the two seamlessly exchange licks to their catchy, toe-tapping tunes. These are serious musicians with enough experience to realize it’s not just about them – it’s about you and your night on the town. Mud Stuffin’s songlist is as diverse as their instrumental capabilities, but be sure of this – you’ll be dancing, singing, and laughing along with Mud Stuffin, and the next day you’ll be glad you did!

20/04/2012 PETER CAT RECORDING CO (Gypsy Jazz)
Peter Cat Recording Co. or PCRC is based in New Delhi/San Francisco, currently consisting of 4 members, formed in 2009. It was initially a solo project started by Suryakant Sawhney in San Francisco, eventually blossoming into a full blown band/act. The type of music we play is open to discussion, with some people saying we sound like post depression era cabaret to to the Bangalore Times calling us Experimental Dark (?). Our style ranges from Gypsy Jazz to Ballroom Waltz to Midnight Moonlight car chase music (think Don). The sound is heavily inspired by 60s/70s Bollywood music, which was in turn inspired by American music of the 50s, such as big band music and soul. Lyrically, we choose to write about prostitutes, deception, android artists and about films coming to life.

We’ve played gigs all over the country that includes several popular and prestigious venues such as Blue Frog, Mehboob Studios , Counter Culture among others. We’ve also played at outdoor festivals such as the Big Mushroom Cloud Festival and ‘Celebrate Bandra’ Festival. Earlier in the year, we embarked on a tour of the country by car driving over 7500 kms and playing gigs at Goa, Chennai , Pune , Bombay , Chandigarh and Bangalore.

27/04/2012 MOONSHINE (Psychedelic Rock)
Over the past couple of years, the Indian Music Industry has gone through a major shift giving way for bands to showcase a variety of new concepts to music lovers. For the first time in our country, Moonshine, a Delhi based band is introducing the concept of entirely original psychedelic rock. Moonshine is the brainchild of Rishi Sachdeva, who has been an integral part of the underground music scene for quite a while. Rishi is the Frontman of Moonshine. Along with him, the band consists of Ananddev Banerjee on Guitars, Nikhil Vasudevan on Drums and Bijoy Sarkar on the Bass Guitar The biggest influence of their music is life experiences which lets the band put a part of their soul into their songs. The band’s music is an entourage of sonic and surreal sounds with provoking lyrics and haunting melodies. Moonshine will launching their debut album in a couple of months, but commercial success is not a priority for the band. According to Rishi, the band does not care much about mass opinion and prefers to have a small yet dedicated following. A firm believer of the Gita, he says ‘Do your stuff, do it right and good results will follow’.
